Our Fleet Maintenance Program
Every aircraft we operate has its specific maintenance program based on hours of operation or calendars days whichever comes first.
In addition and on a regular basis the aircraft are on ground for troubleshooting and rectification of recurring defects. The below-mentioned programs MUST be complied with for an aircraft to be regarded as safe for flight and ready for service.

All aircraft types also comply with the following:
- A life-limited maintenance program for certain components installed whereby, the components as specified by the aircraft manufacturer have to be removed and replaced after a specified number of operating hours or calendar days whichever comes first even though the components have not failed.
- Airworthiness Directives (ADs) and Service Bulletins (SBs) issued frequently by the relevant Civil Aviation Authorities (RCAA, FAA, EASA, Transport Canada) and manufacturers of the aircraft in this case Boeing and Bombardier. The ADs and SBs comes in the form of inspections of aircraft components or systems, replacement of components, modifications etc.
- Preventive maintenance which call for both maintenance personnel and flight to perform a physical go around inspection of the aircraft after each landing and before each take off.
- All defects or anomalies noted by the flight deck crew while flying is documented in a Technical Log book which has to be attended to and rectified within the Civil Aviation regulatory requirement which is normally before the next flight.
Taking cognizance of the limited in-house technical human capacity, RwandAir has contracted reputable maintenance organizations of South African Technical and Lufthansa City Line to provide the technical and maintenance capability for continued airworthiness of its aircraft. These organizations apart from maintaining the aircraft fleet in accordance to the regulatory requirements, also provide transfer of technology and skills to our local and upcoming technical staff.
