RwandAir chooses world-class airport management system to enhance passenger check-in and processing

This year, RwandAir selected Rockwell Collins’ ARINC common use passenger processing systems and related technologies to support the airline’s strong passenger growth. Under a new five-year contract, RwandAir will implement the following systems:

  • ARINC vMUSE™ common use check-in platform
  • ARINC AirVue Flight Information Display System (FIDS
  • AirDB 7, the latest generation ARINC Airport Operational Database (AODB) system

The new airport systems will improve the ease with which RwandAir passengers check-in and go through the airline’s hub at the Kigali International Airport.

“We selected Rockwell Collins because we were impressed by their reputation for excellent customer service, as well as the history of successful project implementations for other airports in our region,” said John Mirenge, the Chief Executive Officer at RwandAir.

“The African aviation industry has been experiencing steady growth over the past several years,” said Paul Hickox, Managing Director, IMS EMEA for Rockwell Collins.

“RwandAir is one of Africa’s fastest growing airlines. As a key pillar in the development of Rwanda’s economy, RwandAir is playing a key role in successfully developing Kigali International Airport as a new hub at the heart of Africa. With the renovation of Kigali and the selection of ARINC airport systems, RwandAir clearly understands the need for providing scalable and customizable solutions that are on international standards,” Mr Hickox said.

Rockwell Collins is a pioneer in the development and deployment of innovative communication and aviation electronic solutions for both commercial and government applications. The company’s expertise in flight deck avionics, cabin electronics, mission communications, simulation and training, and information management services is delivered by a global workforce, and a service and support network that crosses more than 150 countries.

The introduction of the new systems builds on RwandAir’s recent major milestone in passing the IATA Operational Safety Audit, which resulted in the acquisition of the IOSA certificate. RwandAir is committed to operate with the highest international industry standards and the new partnership with Rockwell Collins will help the airline to achieve this goal.
