Terms and conditions

The following terms and conditions ("Terms and Conditions") shall apply to a bid (“Offer”) made by you (“you”) to RwandAir (“Airline”) for an opportunity to upgrade from economy class to business class (“Upgrade”). In order to submit an Offer, you must: (i) have reached the legal age of majority in your country of residence at the time the Offer is submitted.

    RwandAir allows its passengers holding an economy class ticket an opportunity to enhance their travel experience as they can bid for an upgrade to business class. Simply make an offer and if it meets RwandAir’s criteria, you could enjoy all the luxury and benefits that travelling in business class has to offer.

    All RwandAir operated flights are eligible to submit your bid as long as you hold a ticketed RwandAir 459 ticket.

  • dropdown iconHow do I make an Offer?

    Once you have purchased your economy class ticket either directly with RwandAir or with your Travel Agent you may proceed as follows:

    • Proceed to the RwandAir Upgrade page (to add the marketing page link).
    • Enter your reservation code and surname to check your eligibility
    • Make your offer
    • Enter your payment details - remember you will not be charged at this time.
    • Review your information and accept the terms and conditions.
    • You will then receive a confirmation email with all the details of your offer.

    You may also receive an email from us 7 days prior to departure informing you that your flight is eligible for an upgrade, just follow the link in the email to place your bid. Similarly, if your flight is eligible for Instant Upgrade, you will receive an email from us with information on how to proceed with an Instant Upgrade.

  • dropdown iconHow will I know that My bid has been accepted?

    From 72 hours prior to departure, we will start informing passenger’s if they have been upgraded:

    • If your bid has been accepted, your payment card will be charged the amount you bid for that segment and your ticket will be updated to business class. You will receive an email informing you that your bid has been accepted and you may proceed with online check-in into business class.
    • If your bid is not accepted, you will receive an email informing you that your bid was unsuccessful. Once you receive this email, the decision is final and you cannot change your bid or request to change your bid.
  • dropdown iconCan I make changes or cancel my offer?

    You may review, revise or cancel your Offer as long as your Offer has not already been accepted by the RwandAir. If your Offer is accepted before you cancel or amend your Offer, you are bound to purchase the Upgrade and you will be bound to pay for the amount stated in your Offer through a charge to your credit card and you will not be entitled to withdraw your Offer, except and to the extent as otherwise permitted in the Terms and Conditions

    No, each offer is per flight and payable in addition and separate amount to the original price of your ticket.

  • dropdown iconIf my flight has more than one segment, do I have to make an offer for each segment?

    No, you can choose which segment you would like to make an offer on. Each segment is evaluated independently of other segments in the booking.

  • dropdown iconMy travel companion and I are on separate tickets, can we be upgraded together?

    No, each booking is evaluated independently of the other. Our system has no way of knowing that two separate bids should be evaluated together.

  • dropdown iconI’m traveling in a group and I would like to make an offer to upgrade?

    Please contact our reservations department at reservations@rwandair.com or call +250788177000 and ask them to split you from the main reservation. Once you receive your new reservation code, you can go into the system and place your bid using the RwandAir Upgrade page.

  • dropdown iconWill I receive the same service and benefit as a regular business class passenger?

    Once your offer has been accepted and you are upgraded to business class the following services will be available to you:

    • Priority Check-in at the airport
    • Priority Boarding
    • Priority Baggage
    • Lounge Access
    • A business class seat and all the amenities and services onboard.

    Yes, once your offer has been upgraded you will be eligible to check-in business class allowances for the flight that has been upgraded.

  • dropdown iconHow will I know that my instant upgrade has been accepted

    If you requested an Instant Upgrade, we will notify you by email instantly

  • dropdown iconWhat is the difference between upgrade and instant upgrade?

    The difference is that with the upgrade you will submit a bid and wait for the confirmation where instant upgrade we will send you an offer and if accepted you get upgraded right away.

  • dropdown iconWhat if I don’t receive my confirmation email after submitting my bid

    Please wait 4 hours as it may take time for the confirmation email to be generated. You should also check the spam folder in your email account.

  • dropdown iconCan I submit my bid at the check-in

    Unfortunately it will not be possible to submit your bid at check-in, as the bid will close 4 hrs before departure.

  • dropdown iconIs there a time limit on submitting an offer

    The offer window closes 4 hours prior to the departure date of each flight. You may revise or cancel your offer at any time up to 4 hours prior to the scheduled flight departure time.

  • dropdown iconDo I have to pay for the upgrade immediately

    No, you will only pay for the upgrade if your offer is accepted

  • dropdown iconCan I get a refund if I cancel my ticket

    A successful upgrade is non-refundable.

  • dropdown iconWhat happens to my upgraded ticket if I miss my flight

    If you miss a flight through your own fault, your claim to the Bidded Upgrade will not be refunded. However, if you are rebooked on an alternate flight by Rwandair due to flight disruptions after your upgrade offer has been accepted, you will maintain full rights to a seat in business class if available. If there are not enough seats available in the new cabin class, the amount you paid for the upgrade will be refunded to the credit card to which it was charged.
