The following terms and conditions ("Terms and Conditions") shall apply to a bid (“Offer”) made by you (“you”) to RwandAir (“Airline”) for an opportunity to upgrade from economy class to business class (“Upgrade”). In order to submit an Offer, you must: (i) have reached the legal age of majority in your country of residence at the time the Offer is submitted.
RwandAir allows its passengers holding an economy class ticket an opportunity to enhance their travel experience as they can bid for an upgrade to business class. Simply make an offer and if it meets RwandAir’s criteria, you could enjoy all the luxury and benefits that travelling in business class has to offer.
All RwandAir operated flights are eligible to submit your bid as long as you hold a ticketed RwandAir 459 ticket.
Once you have purchased your economy class ticket either directly with RwandAir or with your Travel Agent you may proceed as follows:
You may also receive an email from us 7 days prior to departure informing you that your flight is eligible for an upgrade, just follow the link in the email to place your bid. Similarly, if your flight is eligible for Instant Upgrade, you will receive an email from us with information on how to proceed with an Instant Upgrade.
From 72 hours prior to departure, we will start informing passenger’s if they have been upgraded:
You may review, revise or cancel your Offer as long as your Offer has not already been accepted by the RwandAir. If your Offer is accepted before you cancel or amend your Offer, you are bound to purchase the Upgrade and you will be bound to pay for the amount stated in your Offer through a charge to your credit card and you will not be entitled to withdraw your Offer, except and to the extent as otherwise permitted in the Terms and Conditions
No, each offer is per flight and payable in addition and separate amount to the original price of your ticket.
No, you can choose which segment you would like to make an offer on. Each segment is evaluated independently of other segments in the booking.
No, each booking is evaluated independently of the other. Our system has no way of knowing that two separate bids should be evaluated together.
Please contact our reservations department at reservations@rwandair.com or call +250788177000 and ask them to split you from the main reservation. Once you receive your new reservation code, you can go into the system and place your bid using the RwandAir Upgrade page.
Once your offer has been accepted and you are upgraded to business class the following services will be available to you:
Yes, once your offer has been upgraded you will be eligible to check-in business class allowances for the flight that has been upgraded.
If you requested an Instant Upgrade, we will notify you by email instantly
The difference is that with the upgrade you will submit a bid and wait for the confirmation where instant upgrade we will send you an offer and if accepted you get upgraded right away.
Please wait 4 hours as it may take time for the confirmation email to be generated. You should also check the spam folder in your email account.
Unfortunately it will not be possible to submit your bid at check-in, as the bid will close 4 hrs before departure.
The offer window closes 4 hours prior to the departure date of each flight. You may revise or cancel your offer at any time up to 4 hours prior to the scheduled flight departure time.
No, you will only pay for the upgrade if your offer is accepted
A successful upgrade is non-refundable.
If you miss a flight through your own fault, your claim to the Bidded Upgrade will not be refunded. However, if you are rebooked on an alternate flight by Rwandair due to flight disruptions after your upgrade offer has been accepted, you will maintain full rights to a seat in business class if available. If there are not enough seats available in the new cabin class, the amount you paid for the upgrade will be refunded to the credit card to which it was charged.
