Best time to visit Miami
Miami has a tropical climate that is warm all year. The dry season from December to April brings sunny days, lower humidity and pleasant temperatures, making it the most popular time for beaches and outdoor activities, especially around winter holidays.
From about May to October the weather is hot and humid, with frequent afternoon thunderstorms. The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June to November, so keep an eye on forecasts if travelling then. Late spring and autumn can offer quieter beaches, and Art Basel Miami Beach draws art lovers each December.
Getting from the airport
Miami International Airport is about 13 kilometres west of downtown Miami, and the drive usually takes around 20 to 40 minutes depending on traffic; Miami Beach is a little further.
The MIA Mover shuttle train links the terminal with the Miami Intermodal Center, where you can connect to Metrorail for downtown and Brickell, as well as local buses. Taxis and ride-hailing pick-up areas are at the arrivals level, and there is a bus service towards Miami Beach. Rental cars are collected at the Intermodal Center.
