Terms and conditions

The following terms and conditions ("Terms and Conditions") shall apply to a bid (“Offer”) made by you (“you”) to RwandAir (“Airline”) for an opportunity to upgrade from economy class to business class (“Upgrade”).

  • In order to submit an Offer, you must: (i) have reached the legal age of majority in your country of residence at the time the Offer is submitted; and (ii) have purchased a reservation on a scheduled flight operated by RwandAir that is eligible for an Upgrade. The parent and/or guardian responsible for underage passengers may obtain an upgrade on their behalf. You shall be deemed to have the authority to act on behalf of and to bind the person or persons named or included in the Offer to these Terms and Conditions.
  • An Offer, when submitted by you in association with a reservation made with the Airline, whether made directly with the Airline or indirectly through another channel (such as through a travel agent) shall entitle the person or persons named on the Offer, subject to these Terms and Conditions, to be considered for an Upgrade.
  • RwandAir is under no obligation to accept your Offer, and it makes no representation that you or any passenger will be upgraded. The acceptance of any Offer is at the sole discretion of RwandAir.
  • Offers can only be made on flights operated by RwandAir (at its sole discretion) on condition that you possess a valid and issued Economy Class ticket for the concerned flight on 459 ticket stock.
  • The following bookings or tickets are not eligible to make an Offer to upgrade within the RwandAir upgrade program: Bookings with Infants (INF SSR), Unaccompanied minors, free tickets, rebate tickets.
  • The Offer shall apply solely to the single flight sector (i.e. one way) to which it is made and any additional flight sectors need to have their own Offers within the same itinerary. Each Offer is per flight and payable in addition to the original price of your ticket.
  • (i). If you decide to make an Offer, you agree that your Offer remains open for acceptance by the Airline at any time up to 48 hours prior to the scheduled flight departure time. You may review, revise or cancel your Offer as long as your Offer has not already been accepted by the Airline. If your Offer is accepted before you cancel or amend your Offer, you are bound to purchase the Upgrade and you will be bound to pay for the amount stated in your Offer through a charge to your credit card and you will not be entitled to withdraw your Offer, except and to the extent as otherwise permitted in these Terms and Conditions.
    (ii). If you opt for the Instant Upgrade option, your offer will either be accepted immediately or rejected. You are not entitled to withdraw your Offer, except as otherwise permitted in these Terms and Conditions. If your Offer is accepted, you are bound to purchase the Upgrade and you will be bound to pay for the amount stated in your Offer through a charge to your credit card.
  • In the event that RwandAir cancels a flight and re-accommodates you on another flight, any Offer you made in relation to the original booking may be transferred to the new flight(s) subject to availability of seats in Business Class and at the sole discretion of RwandAir. If, for any reason, there are not enough seats available in the higher class of service to fulfil your Upgrade (only where your original Offer has been accepted), any amounts paid by you for the Upgrade will be refunded to the credit card that was used to pay for the Upgrade.
  • There will be no refunds, credits, or exchanges once your Offer has been accepted by RwandAir, except under the following conditions:
    (i). The flight for which your Offer was accepted and on which you were upgraded is cancelled.
    (ii). The flight for which your Offer was accepted and in respect of which you were upgraded is cancelled, and RwandAir re-accommodates you on another flight but in the class of service of your original booking.
    (iii). Your Offer was accepted and you were given an Upgrade, but you were not able to be seated in the upgraded class of service for reasons attributable to RwandAir, including, but not limited to, a change in equipment, a delay in the connecting flight that resulted in your missing the connection on which you were upgraded, but excluding reasons attributable to your own actions.
  • Should refunds be approved, they will be processed in the currency in which the Upgrade amount was charged. Such refunds will be limited to the amount charged by RwandAir for the upgrade and no bank related charges will be refunded by RwandAir. If the refund is approved, the amount paid for the Upgrade will be refunded to the payment card that was used to pay for the Upgrade.
  • In the event that your Offer is accepted and your credit card is charged the Offer amount but the Upgrade is not provided, you shall be entitled to apply for a refund. Your request must include the original boarding pass for the flight in question. If you are not able to provide the original boarding pass for the flight in dispute, RwandAir is under no obligation to refund you for the amount you paid for the Upgrade.
  • The fare conditions for the original ticket you purchased shall remain in effect and will be applicable even if your Offer has been accepted and you have been upgraded, including, but not limited to, cancellation policies, change fees, and rules relating to the accrual of frequent flyer miles.
  • RwandAir will provide reasonable commercial efforts to ensure services typically available to a Passenger booked in a higher cabin are also available to You including, specific seat assignments, Priority Check-in, Priority Baggage, Priority Boarding, onboard meals and other amenities generally associated with the class of service to which you have been upgraded. However, RwandAir is unable to guarantee that all services typically available to passengers booked in the upgraded cabin class will be included to the Upgraded passenger. Passengers that have been upgraded through bidding may access RwandAir lounges.
  • RwandAir will endeavour to transfer any special meal requests associated with the original class of service to the upgraded class of service, however we cannot guarantee that all requests will be met as some orders require that they are confirmed at least 48 hours prior to departure.
  • The amount of Baggage you may carry with you is determined separately and individually for each Flight Segment in accordance with the conditions and limitations applicable to the corresponding Flight Segment.   • If you cancel or miss your flight in respect to which the Upgrade applies through no fault of RwandAir, no refund of the Upgrade fee shall be issued by RwandAir.
  • RwandAir reserves the right to modify and otherwise change these Terms and Conditions at its own discretion. Except as provided for in the preceding sentence, no amendment, modification or waiver to these Terms and Conditions shall be binding on RwandAir unless made in writing and signed by an authorized officer of RwandAir. By submitting an Offer, you accept all of the terms and conditions.
  • These Terms and Conditions should be read in conjunction with RwandAir Conditions of Carriage, Terms of Use, and Privacy Notice which apply to the use of RwandAir website and are hereby incorporated into and form part of these Terms and Conditions. In the event of any inconsistency, these Terms and Conditions will prevail.
  • These Terms and Conditions will be governed by Rwandan Law and you agree to be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Rwandan Courts.
  • By making an offer for an upgrade, you explicitly agreed that you have read and understood the above Terms and Conditions and that you agree to be bound by the same.
