Rwandair has acquired the necessary slot to land at London-Gatwick tomorrow, 20th March, in the morning. Consequently, it will be operating its last flight to Brussels and Gatwick at 01:00am tomorrow morning out of Kigali.

It will depart from Gatwick and Brussels for Kigali tomorrow at 11:00am and in the afternoon at 02:00pm, respectively, arriving back to Kigali at 10:30pm just ahead of the lockdown.

This follows RwandAir’ s recent decision to temporarily suspend all commercial passenger flights for a period of 30 days, beginning at 11.59pm on Friday, 20 March 2020, as part of the global fight against the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus.

All customers that were due to fly on services set to depart on Saturday, 21 March and on following days are strongly advised to get their tickets re-issued at reservations@rwandair.com and dedicated ticketing offices.

Kigali, March 19, 2020 – Following instructions from the Rwandan Ministry of Health, RwandAir, the national airline of Rwanda, is to take further measures to help the global fight against Covid-19 coronavirus and temporarily suspend its commercial passenger flights.

The measures will apply for a period of 30 days, beginning at 23.59 on Friday 20 March 2020, and affect all scheduled RwandAir flights departing from and arriving in Rwanda.

Customers holding tickets with RwandAir, for flights between 21 March and 20 April, have several future travel options including rebooking with the airline to fly at a later date. All change fees will be waived, giving customers more flexibility to delay their travel.

A RwandAir spokeswoman said: “We are extremely sorry for the disruption and uncertainty this announcement will cause for our customers. However, we are sure they appreciate why this decision is unavoidable at this time and that it has not been taken lightly. We are confident the temporary suspension of our operations will help to reduce the spread of the coronavirus.”

Customers holding tickets for travel on RwandAir who wish to rebook or be refunded can contact RwandAir via reservations@rwandair.com and onlinerefunds@rwandair.com. Affected customers may also contact their travel agent or tour operator if their booking was not made directly with the airline.

RwandAir is to suspend flights with immediate effect between the Rwandan capital, Kigali, and the Chinese city of Guangzhou. The decision will be reviewed later in February.

The move follows the declaration of a Public Health Emergency of International Concern by the World Health Organisation, the WHO, in relation to the coronavirus outbreak.

Affected passengers will be re-routed, refunded or allowed to change their tickets to a later date. Flights from Kigali to Mumbai will continue as per schedule.

The Rwanda Civil Aviation Authority is in the process of notifying other airlines entering Rwanda that any passengers on board their aircraft, who have travelled from China, will upon arrival be screened for potential exposure to novel coronavirus, and may be quarantined for two weeks for observation and case management.

NetLine/Sched and ProfitLine/Price takes off with RwandAir

Kigali, January 29, 2020 – RwandAir customers will benefit from easy-to-understand schedules and prices following a new partnership between the airline and Lufthansa Systems. The new partnership means Rwandair.com will better display the cheapest available ticket prices to meet customer demand and make booking with the Rwandan flag carrier easier than
ever.

The enhancements follow RwandAir’s adoption of Lufthansa Systems’ NetLine/Sched and ProfitLine/Price solutions, which optimise the airline’s complex flight schedule to more efficiently determine the best ticket prices, based on the current market situation as well as supply and demand. NetLine/Sched, the schedule management system from Lufthansa Systems, helps airlines to quickly make the best decisions when creating and optimising their flight schedules, while also taking operational and economic aspects into account. ProfitLine/Price is a comprehensive system for pricing which considers the current competitive situation, price trends and underlying fare structures. These two control programs not only
simplify the airline’s scheduling, they also effectively support RwandAir’s expansion of its route network and pricing strategy by forecasting revenue changes based on fare modifications.

Yvonne Manzi Makolo, Rwandair CEO, said: “Thanks to our adaption of Lufthansa Systems’ scheduling and pricing solutions, our customers will be able to find fares more easily and enjoy an easy-to-understand flight schedule. Working closely with Lufthansa Systems, we have been able to optimise our ticket pricing and flight schedules to ensure RwandAir continues its ambitious growth as it enters into exciting new markets.”
Marco Cesa, Lufthansa Systems Vice President Regional Management EMEA, said: “We are delighted that RwandAir, an important customer in Africa, is now relying on our NetLine/Sched and ProfitLine/Price solutions. I am certain that both products will make a significant contribution to the airline’s expansion plans. Netline/Sched is a dynamic system which enables
airlines like RwandAir to make swift and effective changes and important short-term modifications to their highly complex live flight schedules. These systems use economic algorithms to help evaluate different schedule scenarios to create a comprehensive pricing system.”
