RwandAir wishes to reassure all its customers that their safety and security is of paramount importance and we would never fly to a destination unless it was safe to do so.
We are working closely with global and national authorities to understand the latest advice and guidance on COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and operate our services accordingly.
RwandAir will waive change of reservations costs, re-issues and refunds for all affected passengers affected by our recent temporary suspension of flights to Guangzhou, Mumbai and Tel Aviv.
RwandAir has introduced a new booking policy to offer flexible future travel options for customers concerned about flying due to the coronavirus outbreak. It has waived all rebooking fees for all new flight bookings made between March 9 and April 30, 2020.

- All points-of-sale
For tickets purchased before 9 March 2020 with travel between 31 January and 31 May 2020, passengers can rebook without any change or rebooking fees for up to one year from the date of issuance.
To be eligible for RwandAir’s new travel options, all ticket changes/refunds must be completed by April 30, 2020.

Government measures related to Coronavirus (COVID-19)
RWANDA
Effective from 9 March, 2020:
- All travelers arriving in Rwanda at all points of entry will be screened
- Any traveler showing any symptoms of Covid-19 and arriving from countries with confirmed cases of Covid-19 will be considered as suspected carriers and will be isolated for further investigations and laboratory testing procedures at the nearest hospital
- Those confirmed with Covid-19 will be sent immediately to a dedicated treatment center.
- Those confirmed as negative will remain eligible for active follow up and will be advised to provide full identification for continued daily monitoring at place of self-quarantine for up to14 days from the date they departed any country with confirmed Covid-19 cases. The location of the suspected cases has to be accessible by Ministry of Health- Rwanda Biomedical Centre
- Suspected individuals in self-quarantine conditions must abide by the following conditions: wear masks all the time, self-isolate from others in the same household and call 114 for further direction.
- Any traveler arriving from a country with confirmed Covid-19 case will be considered at risk. They will be recorded in a register for continued daily monitoring for up to14 days from the date they left the country with confirmed cases of Covid-19.
BENIN
- Passengers who have been in coronavirus (Covid-19) affected countries are subject to self-quarantine for up to 14 days. – This does not apply to flight or cabin crew members.
GABON
Passengers who have been in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, China (People’s Rep.), Croatia, Cyprus, Czech, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Ireland (Rep.), Korea (Rep.), Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, USA or the United Kingdom in the last 14 days are not allowed to enter Gabon.
- This does not apply to nationals and residents of Gabon.
KENYA
Passengers are not allowed to enter Kenya.
- This does not apply to nationals and residents of Kenya.
SOUTH AFRICA
Passengers with a normal passport, who have transited or are arriving from China (People’s Rep.), France, Germany, Iran, Italy, Korea (Rep.), Spain, Switzerland, USA or United Kingdom are not allowed to enter South Africa.
- This does not apply to nationals and residents of South Africa.
Nationals and residents of South Africa returning from COVID-19 high-risk countries will be subjected to testing and self-isolation or quarantine.
A completed health questionnaire must be presented to Port Health upon arrival.
UGANDA
- Passengers who reside in China (People’s Rep.), France, Germany, Iran, Italy, Korea (Rep.) or Spain will be quarantined for up to 14 days and those from other countries will undergo the routine screening upon arrival and be advised accordingly on the measures to undertake while in country to prevent infection
BURUNDI
- All travelers from China, France, Germany, Iran, Italy, Japan, South Korea and Spain will be quarantined for up to 14 days
CONGO
- All travelers from China, Italy, Korea (Rep.), Iran and France will be quarantined for up to 14 days.
ZIMBABWE
People visiting Zimbabwe from countries affected by coronavirus (Covid-19) without valid medical certificates showing they are negative, will be sent back at the port of entry as the country strengthens its fight against the spread of the virus. The medical clearance certificates should show that the visitors were examined for symptoms and tested for Covid-19 at a Government-designated institution in their home country
COTE D’IVOIRE
Passengers arriving from countries with more than 100 confirmed cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) are not allowed to enter Cote d’Ivoire.
- This does not apply to nationals of Cote d’Ivoire.
- This does not apply to residents of Cote d’Ivoire..
Nationals and residents of Cote d’Ivoire arriving from countries with more than 100 confirmed cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) will be put in quarantine for a period of 14 days.
UNITED ARAB EMIRATES

Issuance of Visas
Effective March 17, UAE authorities have temporarily suspended the issuance of all entry visas. This does not apply to those passengers holding diplomatic passports or those who have had visas issued prior to March 17. It also does not apply to passengers who hold passports from the following countries. These passengers can continue to travel to and from the UAE although may be subject to additional screening.
Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brunei, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy (from Rome only), Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, The Vatican, United Kingdom and The United States of America.
Screening on Arrival
On arrival to Dubai International (DXB) all passengers will go through a non-intrusive thermal scanning process as they pass through customs. Those arriving from any of the countries listed below will undergo thermal screening and nasal swab. This level of screening is being carried out by Dubai Health Authority’s (DHA) airport medical centre team at Dubai International (DXB) and limited to the following countries:
Screening on Departure
All passengers departing on passenger flights bound for destinations in the United States will also undergo thermal screening.
